Beekeeping Philosophy and Practice

Picture
With honey bees facing an uncertain future, I decided to dedicate my apiary to a "natural as possible" (NAP) holistic beekeeping practice. This means that I pledge to:

  1. Avoid industrial chemical treatments or antibiotics. I won't put anything in my hives that I wouldn't put in my mouth.
  2. Never feed my bees high-fructose corn syrup.
  3. Keep my bees on pesticide-free farms.
  4. Never haul my bees across the country for pollination contracts.
  5. Actively manage my hives to promote genetic diversity and good bee health and nutrition.
  6. Quarantine any hive struggling with a disease to a separate apiary, away from the productive hives.
  7. Work with neighboring beekeepers to promote sustainable, healthy hives.
  8. Spread the love of honey bees by sharing my knowledge with others.
