Why buy pure, raw honey from your local beekeeper?

  1. You know where it comes from. Most grocery store honey comes from large honey packers who buy from China, Brazil, and who knows where else?
  2. Allergies. Some people use local honey as a way to gently expose themselves to the plant pollen that exists in their local neighborhood.
  3. Purity. There have been cases of imported honey being diluted with high-fructose corn syrup, or tainted with heavy metals, antibiotics, and pesticides that are banned in the US.
  4. Unheated, unfiltered. Large companies heat their honey in order to quickly pass it through super-fine filters. The heat denatures the proteins in the honey, and the ultra-fine filters remove much of the beneficial pollen.
  5. Help SAVE THE BEES. You have probably heard that honey bees are dying off at an alarming rate. Small scale, local beekeepers can spend the extra time and effort needed to really care for each hive.
